Jake Hall has been coaching/teaching tennis for 25 years, including as Director of Tennis at Golden Gate Park Tennis Complex in San Francisco and Head Pro at the Chico Racquet Club. Jake has created a system of teaching that has developed countless skilled tennis players from total beginner all the way to NCAA collegiate level. Jake’s favorite activity is being on court with members, be it lessons, clinics and/or cardio classes—and making tennis fun.
Both of Jake’s children who he coached, Donald and Shirley, were nationally ranked juniors and became NCAA Division One scholarship four-year starters at Sacramento State and UC Davis. Both have wins over major NCAA conferences including the Pac-12, Ivy league, West Coast Conference, Mountain West, Big West and both have competed internationally.
In San Francisco, Jake was USPTA certified for over 10 years. Developed and ran the highly successful Youth Tennis Academy and Golden Gate Park Tennis Complex where a number of college tennis players were instructed. At GGPTC, Jake ran many events including the San Francisco City Championships and the popular San Francisco Residents’ Tournament. Jake coached high school tennis at Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep, taking them to the CIF playoffs for first time in school history. While working at the YMCA Presidio, Jake developed his immensely successful and unique cardio tennis classes.
Jake arrived in Chico in 2013. Highlights in Chico include coaching the junior tennis academy (Travel Team) which has produced nine collegiate level players since his arrival. Jake has coached 25 plus USTA Junior Team Tennis teams both in the Peninsula League (while in SF) and Sacramento Area League in Chico—twice making it to the NorCal finals at Team Sectionals in Fresno.
Jake’s cardio classes continue to be very popular due to being faced paced, competitive and fun. The cardio classes are a fantastic and unique option for new members and new players to get involved immediately playing and meeting others at the club.
